The 18th-century glazed terracotta. Which had long been used for preliminary clay models that were then fired, became fashionable as a material for small sculptures including portrait busts.

Terracotta jewellery making art form shows its presence in East Uttar Pradesh, some regions in Haryana .  Even Palwal is famous for its red terracotta products. It also has some of the most skilled artisans who have been carrying forward the traditional terracotta art for generations.  West-bangal also is known for its terracotta craftsmen who have been into this field for five generations.
